The Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital celebrates 10 years with an important recognition. Ten years after the inauguration, the PharmAccess Foundation, through SafeCare certifies the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital as one of the best facilities in Kenya with in Quality of Health and Care. Ten years ago, at the top of a small hill between the city of Nairobi and the shanty towns surrounding it, the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital was inaugurated, a hospital built to offer free care to the most disadvantaged sections of the population who do not have access to the healthcare.
Born from the desire and commitment of a small Italian NGO, World Friends - an association that has made the defense of the right to health of men, women and children its mission - Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital is now a multi-purpose structure, able to assist over 100 thousand patients every year , with a general surgery, specialist clinics, emergency services, maternity and pediatric departments, laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiology, general surgery, pediatric, orthopedic-corrective, obstetric-gynecological, health education services and nutrition offered both within the hospital and on the territory.
"We dreamed of a hospital where the patients were not considered clients but patients, where even the poorest could be treated - said Dr. Gianfranco Morino , founding partner of World Friends and a surgeon at Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital - The project was to have not only a structure diagnosis and treatment, but also a permanent medical training center .
Today, that hospital, in addition to celebrating the first ten years of activity, has one more reason to enjoy the work done. The Safe Care System - established by PharmaAccess Foundation (The Netherlands) with the aim of offering quality care to patients through the recognition of precise quality standards set by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) - With this certification, the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital establishes a small personal record : obtain five levels in five years, as proof of the constant commitment to improving the quality of the services offered.
